Himanshu Vyas served for over two decades at Hindustan Times newspaper before leaving as Chief Photographer (Multimedia). Twice a recipient of Ramnath Goenka Press Photo Award, his News photographs won Gold Award at WAN IFRA's 7th ASIA MEDIA AWARDS,China, at Press Institute of India's photo competition and UNEP, Seoul.

A Master in English Literature, Himanshu wrote breaking stories and is the only photojournalist to write a weekly column 'Yours Leisurely' for years. His report of stray dogs snatching mid day meal of children caught the attention of nation.

His photographs have also appeared in La Monde, The Guardian, BBC, Politico, India Today and Vanity Fair among others.

With his unique pedagogy of photojournalism, he has conducted yearly workshops at IIMC Dhenkenal, Rajasthan University's Mass Communication Department and also at University of South Australia in 2019. He has written chapters 'Photojournalist' and 'Photojournalism' for a journalism reference book. He has worked as a casual announcer with AIR Jodhpur and has published a photo-book "PHOOLIE' on girl-child.

As an empowering skill to probe social issues, he taught photojournalism to rural girls of Dusra Dashak at residential educational camps. He presented a research paper 'State Of Photojournalism In India.' at a seminar of SAARC countries at Karachi and was invited twice to Oz-Asia Festival at Australia for lectures, exhibitions and concerts.

He shot video reports for Hindustan Times web and contributed with scripting and anchoring of an innovative programme 'NEWSBOLT,' a daily news capsule on Social Media. He did a course in Film Appreciation conducted by FTII, Pune and has made three short films - A DARKROOM MELODY, PUR (sponsored by Government of South Australia) and KALAMKHUSH, which explores Mahatma Gandhi in art and was awarded at Rajasthan International Film Festival.

Adept in Brahmi script, Himanshu practices Siddham calligraphy and designs music for experimental theatre and films. He's a member of Haiku Society Of America and his haiku have been published and awarded internationally. He writes for MONK, an annual anthology published from London.
